The bustling inland village of Emporio is located at the foot of Mount Prophet Elias and overlooks the restored 15th century Venetian Castle and the ruins of the Tower of NimboRio.
The picturesque medieval alleys are dotted with whitewashed Orthodox churches with blue domes and ornate bell towers. Luxurious bakeries, wine bars and open-air taverns are located among small hotels, some in traditional cave houses, and simple guesthouses.
Emporio Traditional Village is the island’s largest village and its
old castle is one of Santorini’s best hidden gems.
